Short but straightforward rant incoming...

Like seriously the RYM moderation team can go to Hell. They are straight up tyrants whom literally have no moral compass, nor any concept of ethics. I haven't been active on the site years because they banned me, but I've seen the way they treat other people, especially among their plurality teenager userbase. They have no compassion nor gratitude for their users, and their subscription system is practically predation on minors. Their paranoia over bots and excessive privacy-breaching countermeasures, which I've mentioned before, only make them look more pathetic.

They're also paranoid over banned users and I've seen them ban innocent users over suspicion (but no proof of) or allegation of an alt. And sometimes for seemingly no reason whatsoever. It's a literal witch hunt there. And the worst part is that now they are literally deleting the contributions of banned users, such as all of their genre votes and release additions, which has literally messed up some artists' discographies, and made them inaccurate. That, imo, takes some serious fucking nerve and makes my blood boil. How dare they!

I hate using one platform to trash another like I am now, but I can't hold it back anymore, nor express just how far my detest is towards their administration. This isn't even tacking their obnoxious userbase, which consist largely of literal neo-communist, terminally online tankies who should not be allowed to have ANY influence over the children who use the site. I'm not trying to be political here, but the site is extremely unhealthy for the developing mind of a teenager, and the community is extremist and toxic, literally, for instance, agreeing to collectively rate Eden Golan a 0.5 because she's Israeli, which is actually antisemitic and xenophobic, and borderline misogynistic and misanthropic.

Sorry, but I had to express this somewhere. Those people have irl issues and are total POS. That site takes the cake as the second worst community and administration on the internet (beaten by long shot by Wikipedia [it's not even close]), which is really saying something considering the Encyclopedia Metallum exists...

Well, I can't comment on the RYM community because I (quite deliberately) do not go there. I definitely would not want to replicate it here. Big communities require moderation, and it is very difficult to find good moderators who will not attempt to abuse their power. I would rather use my limited time to implement cool features which people like and which do not require back-and-forth discussion.

The moderators actually aren't that big of a problem; it's the admins themselves. sharifi, the site owner, and the other top level admins. They all have serious ego issues.

They've banned people for criticizing them on platforms like Facebook.
