Prog Cube

Three questions decide what belongs on this site, each with a scale of its own: progressiveness, avant-garde and experimental. They are independent, so together they span a space with every release we hold somewhere in it. This is that space, with the catalogue in it.

Progressiveness
the elaborate, through-composed approach — the site's own scale, Prog from 60
Avant-Garde
the tradition of breaking form, from Henry Cow to Kayo Dot
Experimental
the process of trying things whose outcome is uncertain, whatever the tradition
The catalogue in three criteria

2,259 studio albums and EPs that carry all three criteria, bucketed in steps of 10 on each axis into 365 cells. A release missing any of the three is left out rather than placed on a value nobody gave it. Every value comes from the members, so a record you think sits in the wrong place moves as soon as you tag it. See the tags.

Drag the box to turn it, or use the arrow keys; hold Shift to move it instead. Zoom with the buttons or + and -. Click a bubble for the releases in it.
