Genres and Phases Alpha

Every genre with a history of its own on a calendar of its own: the years just before it (Proto), its classic period, the bands taking the sound up again (Revival) and the sound as a period style (Retro) – with the albums members have placed on each. Genres are named as a record's badge names them and grouped by main genre. Press play to watch the history unfold, click a genre to see its phases one by one, and narrow the picture to what you are after.

These are the prog genres: each has a progressive form of its own – symphonic rock, prog metal, fusion – and its calendar is that form's. Styles and traditions that progressive music grew out of or beside (jazz and its schools, the blues, hard rock) have calendars here too; the switch below adds them. How the phases work is explained in the wiki.
