The prog spectrum lays out all prog music by sub-genre. Some are broad, others specific, but established genres like Krautrock, Zeuhl and the Canterbury Scene deserve their own place. The order is roughly chronological and groups related strands together; it is imperfect.
NOTE: A release is placed by the tags our members assigned it, so tag it yourself if you think it belongs elsewhere. The spectrum lists every sub-genre marked as progressive, so new ones appear as soon as an admin adds them.
Sub-genres marked prog-friendly are not progressive by definition – most extreme metal is not prog – but they are home to a good deal of it, so they are here with the prog records they hold and nothing else.
