Now that you can do it yourself ... what do you think? Which other websites would you like to see supported? I am reluctant to allow arbitrary websites there, since many are either quite volatile (changing unpredictably) or just not well maintained (pretty much all the artist websites).

... and I've just fixed a bug that prevented regular accounts from actually saving the links. Sorry about that, it should work fine now.

As I mentioned elsewhere, discogs is the authoritative source for music releases, so I think providing for a link there would be useful.

Yes, I can see the value of that. Historically I started with musicbrainz, and I still favor them because they have a REST api and discogs have none. But it's true, in the rare cases where I can't find a release on musicbrainz, amazon, bandcamp, spotify or RYM, usually discogs has some info on it.
