Mike, please tell us something about the purpose of the 'blurb' field?

Sure! Blurbs are short promotional texts, typically printed on the back of books. In the old version of the (Progfreak) website we had them, now I added them back. I'll shortly add an info text to the editor itself to explain where they are going to be used. For now (as of today) when you enter a blurb, you'll find it on the release calendar page and in some other lists. In practice, if you have a few words you'd like to say about a release but you wouldn't actually call it a full review, you can add it as a blurb. One nice place to display blurbs will be on the release page, under the page title.

okay, thanks for the explanation ...

I've now converted many short reviews to blurbs - anything below 250 characters. Let me know if you have any objections. Looks nice, for example here: https://awesomeprog.com/releases/21531

means you recommend to write a blurb in any case from now on?

^ Yes, if you're writing a short comment, that should be a blurb. I'll add some hints in the editor to that effect (a maximum length for blurbs, and a minimum length for reviews). It's when you want to add both that things get complicated ...

Rubber Tea new album, I've inserted some text in the 'Comment' Field for testing purposes, later have deleted this again, but the album is still shown on the start page

Yes, that's a bug ... will fix it.

that's a great improvement, in general. The only complaint probably, regarding very famous albums like f.e. 'Close To Edge' this may run into something confusing due to the amount of comments ...

Yes, especially in lists the number of blurbs shown needs to be limited, currently to three blurbs. We'll see ... |
