On the old progfreak website we had horizontal bars. That had certain advantages, but also disadvantages. Since the relaunch we have the numerical value between zero and 10 with a background color where green means good and red means bad. We're now transitioning to a 5 stars system (including half stars) with colors (still green means good, red means bad). Internally, meaning when you edit a rating, things will stay the same - we always rate from 0 to 100, and translate that to however it is displayed. How do you prefer a rating to be displayed? It is entirely possible to make this configurable on a per-user level, so you could have the rating displayed as a percentage, as a value from 0 to 5, as stars, with colors, with different colors, without colors ...

new stars definitely are an improvement not sure if this should be configurable by the particular users. Actually it wouldn't have a high position on my todo list.

Sure. It would be a lot of work to allow for too many options. One thing that might make sense: Change the coloring scheme. There's quite some buzz around tiermaker, and they have a reversed color scheme where red means masterpiece and green means bad ...

Makes very little difference to me.

^ Yes, it's a kind of superficial topic. But it's also something that's easy to implement, and getting this right helps to simplify the UI. |
