What kind of recommendations functionality do you like best? There's automated recommendations based on ratings and tag assignments. These are already available in a rudimentary form on the Similar Users page in the profile section.

There's also personal recommendations ( you recommend a specific artist/release/track to another user), and another thing I'm leaning towards is that you can make general recommendations for specific releases (as part of tagging/reviewing you could say "if you like this release, you might also like ..."), and those could then be shown on the release page.

What is your preference? Think about both the giving and the receiving end.

Sure, I'll reply later, I'll think about this!

The current way of recommendations is good and should remain, but I believe that in addition, something original should be done. In this regard, I have one suggestion for you; of course, only if it's technically possible. Let every member of this site who has already added more than, say, 10 bands in the database and who were later added to the Progarchives as well, have their own corner on these pages where it would stand that a member (nick) recommends a band ( band name, link with artwork, etc.).

For example, I just added this to the database:https://strengthandsanity.bandcamp.com/album/strength-and-sanity , and according to the rules I chose automatically generated tags, and each of the other members can tag as they wish. That's perfectly OK, that's how this site works. However, as an addition, in a supposed particular corner, I might want to recommend this act as "post-progressive", not wanting to deal with the existing automatically generated tags, nor for anyone to add their own tags in that "my" corner.

I think I'm getting what you're suggesting, Svetonio. Let me rephrase what I think you mean. This is something I did on the old website and which I definitely want to do here as well:

Each member should have their own "subsite" where all the bands they've rated and tagged are listed, but with only their own assigned tags shown.

The basis for this is already available - each member has their profile page (tagyourmusic.org/users/USERNAME). I will add an "artists" tab there, where all the rated artists are shown with their releases, and the tags assigned by the user.

I imagine it not as a separate page, but as a small square that occasionally appears on the main page, let say like a page within a page, with "today's recommendation from ..." . I don't know how or if it is technically feasible, though.

Ok - how/when would this be shown? Of course I could randomly pick a user who has highly rated a sufficient number of albums, randomly pick one of them and show that as "User X recommends ...". But most users would not want that to happen. The fact that a user rated an album 8/10 and assigned it a genre doesn't mean that they would be ok with being featured like that on the front page. Of course we could have an opt-in for that, e.g. in your settings there would be a checkbox "show your top rated albums as recommendations".

As I imagine, it should be like a sidebar, or snippet, an inset on the main page, like a small square that becomes larger when you click on it. However, I really don't know if it's technically feasible, and I'm even less sure if the Progarchives aristocracy would like to see Svetonio's catch of the day on the menu, lol. Well, just a suggestion according to your request on this topic.

It's a good suggestion! I for one am interested in what you are listening to. I sometimes wonder though why you are rarely assigning a rating. That is of course something you would have to do more frequently in order to be featured in any recommendations :)
