Mediocre Non-Prog Hard Rock/Pop

"I like how Negoba from the Metal Music Archives describes this album as "Bryan Adam's lost yawner", because it certaily is not an album that manages to rock my world. It is way too soft and poppy, without being original ("Hysteria" was interesting because it was different from most other pop metal releases at the time).

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good things on this album, and also a couple of okay tracks. The mildly rocking "Let's Get Rocked!", for instance, is not a bad song, which also goes for "Make Love Like a Man". But there is just too much soft, cheesy and ballady stuff on this album for my tastes.

I guess that those who like pop music, but don't mind a bit of distorted guitar would like this album.

Pyromania 1983
Supreme Non-Prog Metal/Hard Rock

"An album consisting of mostly solid hard rockers, "Pyromania" deserves its status as a heavy metal and hard rock classic. It is teeming with more or less classic guitar riffs, such as the simple, catchy and unforgettable main riff of the opening track "Rock! Rock! (Till you Drop!)", which, for my money, is an anthemic and headbanging inspiring heavy metal riff - even to this day.

This album is also interesting, because the original guitarist Pete Willis was kicked out during the recording and replaced by the talented Phill Collen, and thus the album contains guitar parts by both Collen and Willis.

This album is a metal classic and I think that it will appeal to most fans of hard rock and traditional heavy metal alike.

Mediocre Non-Prog Hard Rock

"Take all the worst songs from recent albums starting with Adrenalize and put them on a single record and you get this. Songs have become shorter and shorter again, with almost none passing the 4 min mark, with the rule being plain hard rock sounding most of the time very poppish and cheezy. Add this a relative similarity in all the songs and you get... nothing. Clearly an album for core Def Leppard fans only."
