Bonded by Blood United States

"This album is friggin' awsome. Firstly, the lyrical concept is about a race of aliens who invade Earth 600 years in the future, with underground forces of humans taking up the battle against the aliens in a world of droids, aliens, laser guns and bio-cybernetic technology. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!? It's awsome! Sci-fi thash metal!

Musically, Bonded By Blood deliver a solid type of thrash metal with several retro elements - the vocalist, "Aladdin" Barrales, for instance, sounds like a hybrid of Paul Baloff, Sean Killian and Russ Anderson. However, compared to a lot of early thrash metal, Bonded By Blood's music is more technical and also a bit more brutal than many of their fellow retro thrash metal colleagues.

There is not a lot of variation across the tracks on the album... but, hey, who needs that? This is thrash metal!

Warmly recommended to any fan of thrash metal.

Non-Prog Thrash

""Feed the Beast" offers classic thrash metal from a modern thrash metal band, Bonded By Blood being part of the thrash revival movement seeking back to the thrash metal of the time before groove metal marched in and took over from old school thrash metal.

And old school metal is what this release offers. The tracks have the same energy, and there are plenty of polkaing drumming and chugging guitars. The lyrics are suitably nihilistic and ironic, and even the band members' interests are like those of the classic thrash metal bands (e.g. skateboarding, cartoon and comic books, like the Anthrax guys) which is reflected in the lyrical themes on this album (there's even a cover version of the The Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles on this album). The music is perhaps more technical than on the classic thrash metal albums of the 1980s, but - unfortunately perhaps - the production is very similar to that on the thrash metal albums of that time, including the drowning in reverb and all.

This album is warmly recommended to thrash metal aficionados.
