"Perhaps best known for his work with Enuff Z'Nuff - pop oriented glam metal band and MTV darlings - Donnie Vie has decided to release a solo album in the form of Wrapped Around My Middle Finger .

While still quite commercially oriented and full of broad appeal, Vie's solo album is not characterized by the sleaze and all out party fun which characterizes the glam metal genre with which he is normally associated. Perhaps in an attempt to dissociate himself from glam metal, Vie has opted for a quite melancholic sound, the only upbeat track being the 80s pop-rock oriented 'Lollipop'.

So there definitely is not party atmosphere as such on this album. The main source of inspiration seems to be The Beatles - although the songwriting on Wrapped Around My Middle Finger is generally quite simple, hard rock informed and conforming to the conventions of pop and pop rock.

As a consequence, this album comes across as being mature and sophisticated, but at the same time hugely accessible, and, while it probably will never convince hardcore progheads, it may appeal both to fans of non-mainstream rock and more digestible pop and pop rock music."
