"Musically, this album sounds like the previous ones... but what has Johan Edlund done with his voice??? Sometimes he's almost growling, sometimes he uses a voice comparable to what he did for the first half of "Wildhoney", on rare occasions he uses his normal voice, but most of the time he relies on a low tone voice giving all the songs an interesting feeling. It simply feels like the band tried to make a "best of" album... but with new songs."
"A love it or hate it album. For me it's the former... it's simply brilliant.
Clearly a milestone in the gothic metal genre. All death metal influences are gone, replaced by a Pink Floyd-like sound. It's slow and depressive, but unlike My Dying Bride, the melody doesn't rely on distorted guitars but more on acoustic guitars, keyboards and other instruments (sitar, flute, oboe, violin, cello).
Highly recommended."
