Tubax Italy

"Tubax deliver dirty apocalyptic funk on their debut 'Il Mondo Stava Finendo' with tons of groove and enough progressive and technical elements to impress the hell out of anyone whoc thought that funk was just mindless party music.

The bass is central to the Tubax sound and, whether distorted beyond fuzz or slapping and popping, the bass remains dominant, but without belittling the remaining instrumentation - especially the drumming is technically impressive, yet it has a very organic feel to it. If you like fuzzy guitars and dirty synths, you will love this album, which also has a psychedelic feel to it in the experimentation with sound and texture - and the use of a flute solo in one of the tracks.

There are plenty of progressive elements such as odd time signatures galore, unusual song structures, the above mentioned experiements with sound and noise, and then there are plenty of changes in time and tempo (just check out the first track 'T-Rex'), and the whole thing is sprinkled with jazz elements to please the ears.

Possibly the most interesting dirty funk release since Herbie Hancocks "Headhunters", this release is recommended to any adventurous fan of supah funkay music."
