"Oliver Weers got booted from the Danish version of The X-Factor, because he was a rock singer and because he was too good a singer for the show. That in itself is enough eviden that shows like The X-Factor, American Idol, Popstar and so on are nothing but commercial dredge aimed at brainless sheep and other idiots who do not know to appreciate proper music (I actually think that shows like that are a disgrace to all types of music, even pointless pop music), and people who watch shows like than and buy subsequent album from the winners, are f*cking losers.

But then again... sometimes, some real artists can benefit from such shows, like Oliver Weers. He got booted, but a representative of Target Distribution had seen him on the show, and Weers got offered a record deal, so he could release his music to people who actually appreciate it.

"Evil's Back" is his second album, and it offer s solid high quality good old-fashioned hard rock and melodic heavy metal. A lot of the tracks are actually quite groovy and heavy with catchy vocal melodies (especially the choruses are catchy), while others are more uptempo and more uplifting. There are also a couple of ballads and "softies", but these are quite good too.

Weers is a very versatile singer, but primarily makes use of a raw and semi-raspy, yet melodic voice, on this album, which suits the music quite well. The musicianship is top notch, and the production is polished and defined, but the guitars are still quite heavy sounding.

This is solid hard rock with a lot of melody and catchiness and, although it can hardly be described as groundbreaking, I really think that fans of hard rock will enjoy this album a lot, so check it out when it comes out in the end of February.
